Stamp, Stamp, Stamp!

So, one of my good friends is getting married. She found herself a little overwhelmed and unsure where to begin. What do friends do in a situation like this? They step up and it just so happens that my friend Sarah and I LOVE to plan wedding stuff. So together we have formed a threesome (get your head out of the gutter!! LOL) together we are whipping through this whole thing and have most of the details lined out, booked & purchased in just over 3 weeks. You may be thinking to yourself, why does this require a post? Well because I am doing the invitations. At this moment I can not share a picture of the whole set with you, but I assure you when I can you will fall out of your chair. (I can not be held responsible if you hurt yourself, if and when you do fall...hahaha just kidding)

I am making 100 sets which each include pocket style 6x6 invitations, rsvp cards, reception cards, address details, all envelopes, favor tags, table seating tent cards and.....Oh I don't know I am sure there is more. Oh there is....I am also stamping on fabric and making 15 inch squares for the center peices to sit on for each table. I have already done so much stamping with the Beautiful Blooms leaves stamp from Papertrey Ink that it now looks like the photo. In case you did not know...it is supposed to be clear...HAHA Not anymore.

Well I can not wait until I can show you the sets but I am going to wait until they are done and then show you a whole series of photos. In the meantime, I will try to post a few other things but bare with me for a week or so.

Have a great Day!

Blog Hop - A Tribute to my Dad

It's Here! The second, of what I can only hope is many, Papertrey Ink Blog Hop!
You can read all about it HERE.

This month, Nichole provided us with a pdf file of her fabulous "Father Knows Best" Pattern Paper Blocks. We could do whatever we want....with these blocks. Leave in tact, cut them up, whatever.

At first I was a little lost, not really sure what direction I wanted to go. After one great conversation with my BF (Hi Sarah) I had some direction and have now officially adopted her as my Muse. While we were talking I started to combine the thoughts of "Father" paper and stained glass. The ideas started flowing and there I was printing off some great papers, searching for a stained glass pattern and a great Dad poem. I found the pattern and printed it off and went to work.

I really encourage you to click on the picture for enlargement, The tiny blogger photos do not so it justice. Even then the picture does not to justice to it and the GREAT papers that Nichole Designed.

I will try and walk you through what I did to achieve the stained glass technique, but don't shoot me if I don't explain it well....LOL and I warn you it will be a long read. I started by finding the pattern online and printing it off. If you google "free stained glass patterns" you will have a bunch pop up to select from. Some of the images were really incredible.

Normally I would print the pattern on the back of several different pattern papers and then you start cutting. First cut the center piece and fix it to your base paper. NOTE: when cutting you need to cut on the inside of the black lines. This creates the gap in between the patterns. Then you start on the next row until all the way done.

Because these papers are in the form of the small blocks, I started by cutting all the blocks away from the white borders and stacked the like papers together. I cut the center out of Very Vanilla. Then when I started the next round I put a tiny bit of tape runner glue on my grid paper. I took the pattern paper that I wanted to use and stuck it down. Then I layered the pattern over top and started cutting with my craft knife (a tiny bit easier then it sounds) Once I had the first point pieces cut out I just used them as a template holding it over the next piece of paper I just trimmed around them and glued them all down. I also made a couple of the triangles to use as a guide for the layers. See the picture.

This is what it looked like after a few layers around. I also finished the posts as a guide. I was finding that even sometimes I would cut them out perfectly and they were still too big so I would glue it down and then using my craft knife I would trim a tad more off to fit.

Here we are almost done. I still some rounds and filler to do. I wanted to also say...if you try this project know this. My lines are NOT perfect. That is the beauty of stained glass, some of the inconsistencies really make it a beautiful piece of art work. I urge you to do a google image search of stained glass and you will see what I mean. The overall beauty of the art...whose looking at the lines?

This is the completed circle, cut out from the 12 x 12 chocolate chip base that I started on. Now it is time to make it into something even more beautiful.

I wanted to do a Tribute to My Dad, truly my Best Friend. I was always a Daddy's Girl and I am so thankful for all the years of love, friendship, fun and overall GREAT memories that I have with him. Even while he is not here I will always have those. I miss my Buddy, so Dad, this is for you!

This is a close up of my ribbon award. So cute! All I did was stitch through the edge of the ribbon with thread and then pulled it tight to gather it. Then I stamped the award from the “June” month Hero Arts Clear Stamps Set and then cut it out. I attached the ribbon to the center stamped piece and then to the paper with a dimensional sticker. Also in this picture you can see the mini brads that accent each tip of the star.

These are the corner close ups. The sentiments I stamped are from the Papertrey Ink Mixed Messages Set. I appreciated my Dad he was my Father, but so much more. We were “Friends to the end” and I miss him. On a crafty note: Look how well the Making Memories brads match the Summer Sunrise part of color in the paper.

This poem was found by My Muse, Sarah…she was helping me surf through all the great poems out there but this one I really liked. So sweet. My Dad was all of these things.

***Note: I did not write this poem but it suits my Dad perfectly***

"For My Dad"

You've always been the kind of Dad,
Who had a quiet way,
And yet I knew exactly where you stood
I knew that you'd be there for me,
From one day to the next,
And also, that you'd help me if you could
I knew that you'd be honest,
If I asked for some advice,
And offer praise when it was truly due
And if, per chance, it happened,
That I messed things up a bit,.
I also knew that I would hear from you.
Yet I knew you'd be forgiving,
As I stumbled on through life,
And that you'd help me see the good from bad,
And I'm grateful beyond measure for the person that you are,.
And proud as I can be to call you "Dad."

< June 19, 1951 - June 20, 2007

Watercolor Garden

Oh so it is not a garden, but with all our recent snow I wish I was planting. What better then to refresh the soul with some spring stamping?

Again, I started on Stamper's Select (if you haven't tried this stuff what are you waiting for?) then I layered choclate chip and SU prints inked at the edges. Next I added some green sheer ribbon tied into simple knots.

Then I stamped and watercolored my image with various Stampin' up colors (black, basic brown, going grey, lilac, brilliant blue, creamy caramel, ,ellow moss) I inked the edges to match ad mounted it on choc. chip and added it to my base with dimensionals. Then I did my sentiment from my PTI Faux Ribbon set. Last I added the baubles I found and stamped Happy Mother's Day on the inside.

I am recently addicted to square cards, my only problem is/was that when I sell my cards I perfer to have them in a protective cello wrap but did not have square ones. Well, my friends! I found some, and at wholesale prices. In fact this company has SO many goods that I purchase on a regular basis at fractions of the price. Wholesalers rock! So once those come in there will be no stopping me! Oh and they have the BEST square envies too!

See ya tomorrow! Don't Forget to come see me, I have a Tribute To My Dad for the PTI Blog Hop!!!

My Minds Eye BLOWOUT SALE

I have some FANTASTIC NEWS!!!! A PTI Forum Friend who has her own store is having a My Minds Eye Blow out sale. am absolutely going to scoop up some of her great deals.... I think you should too! Here is the link to the information...go now!!!! Happy Shopping!

I have been sewing!

I finally got out my sewing machine again. Ever since I moved my studio upstairs and put both the girls downstairs, I have left a table full of things downstairs. Somewhere under the pile, was my sewing machine.

I made a few cards for the partner site that I belong to. Coming up to Mother's Day and we had almost no Cards for mom to sell. Now we have a few more. Check it out! i Make Art Cards! Anyway, I am not going to go into great detail but I do want to point out one or two things. I picked up some envelopes from a drug store (a friend told me they sell leftover envelopes for dirt cheap, so I grabbed some up) I love it because they sometimes have unique sizes and it makes for some great variety in cards. I made a matching flap on this envelope to cover up an existing pattern and company brand. One neat thing about this card is I applied a rub-on directly to my PTI Saddle Stitch Ribbon...LOVE IT!!!

The one thing I like about this card is the way the ribbon is weaved through. I first used the slot punch and then used the small hole on my cropadile and put in an eyelet. Then I weaved my ribbon through both sides, secured it and stamped on the ribbon. Still need to pick up some stiffy and try it out. I was lucky enough for no bleeding on this card.

The little flowers on this cards I found at Michael's in the bridal section. They are Bridal confetti but you get a cute little pail with TONS of these flowers in it. Did you know that you can also color these flowers? I have not tried it but you can see it on THIS card. Isn't that fabulous? Lauren's cards never fail to blow my mind. So creative.

I have been slacking a little because I am working now, making cards for craft fairs & stores, helping a friend plan her wedding, doing her 100 invitations, table tents, favor tags, and center peices, dealing with my MIL's recent major health issues and working on a VERY SPECIAL POST coming soon for the Papertrey Ink Blog Hop. Be sure to tune in to see my special Tribute to my Dad! So yeah, I have a few things on my plate.

I have three more days of posts ready to go and scheduled in blogger, so come back and visit and don't forget I do have feedburner if you prefer to get them right in your inbox. See you all soon!

What is Spring??

Ok. I know Mother Nature has a mind of her own? But COME ON!!!!! Its APRIL!!! Have I ever mentioned that I detest winter? Well I do. Not because it's cold, because it isn't. I do, however, hate driving in it. SO I have a win/win solution. I just won't go anywhere. It solves two of my issues and adds something nice. '

1. My truck doesn't drive well in this stuff. It is a half ton 2 wheel drive. Who buys a 2 wheel drive truck in Southern Alberta? My husband does!

2. Gas. I filled my truck last week and it cost me $91.00 to fill it from 1/4 tank. I NEED a car, so I am trying to get Curtis to look into getting me my VW Jetta that I have wanted for so long. Cross your fingers for me. In fact the gas price disgusts me so much that I have barely left my house in the last 2 weeks. I normally go somewhere almost everyday to rid myself of stress.

The something Nice? I have been walking. I have a friend that lives a few blocks away, my Mom lives another 7 or 8? blocks away, so I have been getting out, visiting and getting in some walking! I have already lost some pounds even! Hooray! Did I mention it is still snowing? Yuck!

Edited to Add: I had one comment on where I am. Sorry I could not reply to you because it was left anonymously but yes I am a fellow Albertan. I am in Medicine Hat!! I too hope this crummy weather does go away!!

The rest of this post is brought to you by a card that represents spring. If we can't have it for real then at least we can long for it...lol

I started on PTI Stamper's Select cardstock, folded at the top. Then I took Bashful Blue & Always Artichoke and embossed them with my Cuttlebug. I cut them into strips and adhered them to the front of my card.

Next, I got out my Nestabilities and cut the bashful blue scalloped squares. Man am I glad I have these nesties, they rock! Then I stamped the image from the "May" set form Hero Arts Clear Stamps in basic black. After coloring the images, I outlined the image with a hint of grey for the shaded look. I love how it turned out! I have been wavering on whether to buy copics or not and have so far decided that I can still achieve satisfactory results with out another expensive collection. (but I do really, really, really like them!)

I used the slot punch at the bottom right and tied the Martha Ribbon into a bow and finished off this peice with the baubles I found! Not the real deal dew drops, but I am not to picky. I love them and they were cheap too...Char some of these are coming your way (when I get my **** together...LOL) Last I used a small sentiment from SU to stamp at the bottom and stamped "Thanks so much Mom" on the inside.

Have a great Day! And don't forget I have a SEA of posts for you this week. :)

Card Details:
Cardstock: PTI stampers select, SU bashful blue, always artichoke
Ink: bashful blue, always artichoke, basic brown, going grey, basic black, pretty in pink
Stamps: Hero Arts Clear, Stampin' Up!

Other: Baubles ??, Cuttlebug, swiss dots & textile emboss folders, dimensionals, square scallop nestabilities

Scalloped Flowers

This card has many things I love. Pretty Pink Pattern Papers from Papertrey Ink, ruffled ribbon made from saddle stitch ribbon (PTI), and stamp sets that match perfectly. I entered this for the PTI GSS, wish me luck!!

I started this card with the standard size Stamper's Select Cardstock from PTI and added the 3 x 4 piece of floral pattern paper, which I inked around the edges with Spring Moss Exclusive Palette ink.

Then I cut a piece of c/s 4 x 2.25 and inked the entire thing with the moss ink, my solution for not having bought the spring moss paper. I will be fixing that with my April order.

Next I took my medium solid dot stamp from Polka Dot Basics and added spring moss to the centers of the circles on the pattern paper and adhered it to my card. After that I added a 1 inch strip of the dot paper.

Then I grabbed a 12 inch strip of the spring moss saddle stitch ribbon and pulled the white stitching to give my ribbon the ruffle. I fell in LOVE this look when I saw THIS card at the PTI Blog Hop. To stop it from straightening out I tied to 2 strands of white together and finishing arranging the ruffles. Then I attached it over the strip with tape runner.

For the "Scalloped Flower" I punched a Marvy Giga scalloped circle and a scalloped circle using my SU pinch. On the large scallop, I stamped the 2 different circle patterns from the Borders & Corners Circle set. I also stamped the "thinking of you" circle from that set in the spring moss and punched it out with the 1 1/4 punch. Then I layered the three pieces on the card. (after cutting off the bottom 3/4 inch of the large scallop) I used glue at the bottom of the scallops and then for some depth I added a dimensional to the tops and lightly bent in the scallops!

Papertrey Ink Patterned Paper

I love pattern paper. In fact, I buy it ALL the time and have a hard time parting with it. As much as I want to keep this paper it is SO pretty that I need to see it in cards. Now whether I will be able to part with the cards is another story...LOL.

For this card I started by cutting a peice of Stamper's Select cardstock 4.25 (w) x 11 scoring it at 5.5. Then I cut off the bottom of one of the sides approximately 2.5 inches. Then cut 1 inch off the length of that piece. Next score that piece .5 of an inch from top to bottom of the 2.5 side. I then covered the square area of that peice with lots of delicious layers of the pink patterns paper. I added some machine stitching in brown, added the bow and attached it to the flap.

Next, I cut the inside card liner - 4 x 5.25 and glued it in. Adding the flap over the top with the .5 inch score to the right hand side. I also cut a strip of paper to cover the .5 inch piece.

On the other flap I cut a peice of thin paper (standard computer printer paper) to 2.25 (w) x 3.5 (L). I took small scraps (yes scraps...I wouldn't dare throw them away!!!) and attached them randomly trimming any excess. Once I was done I zig zagged all the seams with my sewing machine, again in the brown.

This next part was simply by fluke, I went to put the brads in the bottom left corner and discovered a new reason to love the small swiss dots. I pierced every other "dot" and had perfect placement of my brads, no measuring required!! Any shortcut suits me just fine.

I rounded all my corners, attached the bottom flap and made the oval tag. The sentiment is from the Mixed Messages Set. I also made a notch at the top of the bottom flap for top flap to fit into.

Last but not least, I added a piece of pattern paper to the inside of the bottom flap with notched corners to place a gift card.

Playing with Spring Moss

I hesitated at first to order the spring moss colors from Papertrey Ink....but I have no idea why, it's wonderful. I ordered the ink and the Saddle Stitch ribbon. Now I have to order the paper, and the other 4 ribbon styles...LOL.

I took a tangerine colored paper (from a Costco pack) and cut it at the borderde with my Martha Stewart border punch. then I wrapped the Spring Moss ribbon around in a simple knot. The I used the negative effect embossing with the Cuttlebug.

After I attached the embossed peices I made the little tag at the bottom. I used the Papertrey Ink Borders & Corners Circles & the text from Mixed Messages.

All in all, I think this is a style of card I may need to try again in different layouts and colors.

Have a Great Day!!

Baby Boy Ribbon Card....

Char Style!!!! Remember this great card that Charlene made from the February Papertrey Ink Ribbons and then this one as well (scroll down a bit)??? Well, it went on to be the inspiration to Nichole for the first ever PTI Blog Hop. Ever since I seen Char's card I have wanted to try that technique. It is Brilliant!!!

I started by picking the ribbons I wanted to use. That was difficult. Char and I were actually Talking about ribbon and how many rolls we had. So today I did a massive clean of my Scrap area. This also included re-organizing my ribbon holder because I bought a "few" more rolls at M's Sunday. Just for the heck of it I counted the rolls.......354!!!! OMG and I have 10 more coming from PTI's Mach release and I am sure I will end up with 10 more for April's release. Yikes!!

Anyway, I finally decided to do a baby boy card so I selected 3 matching ribbons from American Crafts. I weaved the ribbons over cardstocka nd backed it on chocolate chip. Then I tucked the paper clip behind it. Then I clipped the word "boy" from one of the ribons and glued it to the center of the clip.

Then I embossed a peice of soft sky with the swiss dots folder from Cuttlebug. I used Burnt Umber (which I love) to ink the edges.

Next I wrapped the striped ribbon accross the bottom and made the little tag for it. I attached it with a brown safety pin and there you have it.

Thanks Charlene for SUCH a GREAT idea. I am so lad I tried it and let me tell you, it will not be last time either......LOVE IT!!

Supplies: PTI Stampers select white, SU soft sky, chocolate chip, STAMPS: PTI Borders & Corners Mono. Ed. & Mixed Messages, American Craft ribbons, palette burnt umber ink, SU soft sky ink, CB swiss dots E/F, clip & safety pin from MM.

Green Thumb Love

Oh I am in love with the Green Thumb set from Papertrey Ink already and this was the first and only card I made with it yet! Also I recieved the Aqua Mist and the Spring Moss exclusive PTI Palette Inks and must I say...WOW. They have fabulous coverage they are not to squishy and the stamping outcoe is clean & crisp! I will be adding some more colors to my cart as soon as I can!

For this card I used the 2 new colors (Feb release) to stamp the flower thingies?? Not sure what they are...lol But they look purdy! Then I stamped the flower pot with my Burnt Umber cube (yeah I will be needed a full size and refill of that little baby) Look how smooth and clean it stamps. No blotchies! Then I cut two slits on either side of the flower pot and wrapped satin Aqua mist ribbon through and knotted it.

After I used my swiss dots CB embossing folder, which I was finally able to find locally thank goodness, I matted it on vanilla and added another stripe of satin ribbon. Then I stamped the thank you from the thank you berry much sentiment of green thumb (cubes are great for that) and I set it in a peice of my very first ever hodgepodge. Crap, now I think I need the other kinds too...LOL!

So that's it, pretty basic but still pretty! Any of you in love with the new hodgepodge???

Thanks for visiting....

Cupcake Challenge #9

I absolutely LOVED Taylor's Cupcake Challenge #9 from last week and now that my slump of card making is through I wanted to whip out my "Hey There Cupcake" set from Stampendous.

I also just recieved a new order from Stampin up (can you believe it had been more then a month since I ordered last?!?) Anyway, I ordered some Taken with Teal & more Chocolate Chip. So this is what I did with it. The ink colors are Burnt Umber & Aqua Mist (which I also recieved the other day) and I LOVE the Palette Inks! If you have not tried them out yet, I am telling you go now to PTI and toss them in your cart. (not that I am enabling you in anyway...NOW GO!!!) haha. The ribbon is the PTI Aqua Mist Wide Grosgrain....Love it!

Ok well That is all I am sharing for now but I will have another card coming up....all I have to say is Taken with Teal, Green Thumb & SU's Stylized Silver Hodge Podge!!

Have a Great Day!!!

Party, Pizza, Wii and a Card

So I actually made this card last week but wanted to give my faithful readers something to look at (after my rambling of course!!) I realize last week I went a little m.i.a. We had a pretty jam packed week end. We started with a dinner at my moms. 2 out of 3 of my brothers and their families and of course myself and McKayla, went to Mom's condo to do some swimming and then eat. After we ate my Nephew Darin (12) unpacked the Wii and we played some bowling. OMG!!! For the first time in my life I actually want a game system...Gotta have a Wii!!

So knowing that the next day was my Nephew Cale's birthday (6) we asked if they could bring the Wii again. So Sunday we had so much fun, we Wii'd, we ate cake & pizza, presents...you know the story. My favorite part was the Wii boxing. We let the kids go at it first. We lined up Cale (the birthday boy who is 6 and belongs to my 3rd Brother and his wife Diana) and he played against Newton (who is 5 and Diana's little brother) Anyways it was hilarious! Little Newton would punch, punch, punch and he would get closer and closer to the TV (which made Curtis and I nervous because it is expensive and fairly new..LOL). So we would grab Newton's belt loop and pull him back and he would punch his way up there again. He was like a live wind up toy!! LMBO!!! Best of all, my brother PJ got it all on video...look out You Tube!

Next we let the adults go at it...so Curtis and I stepped into the ring and knocked the **** out of each other. I would like to say that I did manage to knock him out twice, but overall he won. I tell you, I can see the Wii in every Marriage Councellors office very soon. Great therapy!!! LOL

Ok so enough of the boring stuff. Remeber in previous posts I have talked about my S-I-L that always calls me up with special requests? Well now my Brother (her husband) is doing it too. I am so excited that they like my cards enough to call me up and get one. My brother says down the road people will say "Dont get a hallmark, Grab a Jewels Card." LOL!! Have I ever mentioned that PJ is my favorite brother? LOL!!
His request was an elegant birthday card with flowers, blue & brown. Well!! It just so appens thes are my favorite things. SO this is what I did. I started with inspiration from Nichole's card seen >>here<<> I took bashful blue prints paper and layered it on chocolate chip and vellum piercing all around the edge. Next I stamped the large flower outline from PTI's beautiful Blooms onto vellum and on Dasiy Bucket papers. Then I cut them out, layered them over each other and added them to the first peice.

Next I layered creamy caramel over chocolate chip and cut the scalloped edges on the choc. chip. then I added two small streips and one large strip of the dsp. Pierced the creamy caramel to match (boy I can't wait until my mat stack arrives from SU tomorrow) A little touch of ribbon, a "Happy Birthday" stamp (which I believe is from PTI's Shapes By Design). As the final touch I took out my brand new bottle of liquid pearls (any cardmaker/scrapbooker MUST add this to the shopping list) and made the centers of my flowers and set it aside to dry.

I hope you have enjoyed my ramblings, My Wii adventures (did I mention that my arms are still sore 2 days later from the boxing???) AND.....don't Miss out on your chance to win some blog candy >>>HERE<<<

So did anyone get Pranked? April Fools??? I did! By my hubby. LMBO!!!
Anyway, Have a great day!
