Burning the Candles???

Why yes, yes you can. However, I would still err on the side of caution as one always should while burning candles. Anywho, this evening I looked it up with other Split Coast Stampers to see if anyone had burned the candles and what happens to the tissue paper. Well They all said it would just singe the edges a bit but never take to fire.
I made a couple cute little votives to test the theory and the picture is the result from one (I burned three and they all looked the same). The Other thing people were suggesting (for the bigger, fatter candles) is to burn them down until enough has burned from the center and pop in a tea light with the tin casing still on. How Clever! Happy Candle Stamping!! I have also 5 new cards to show you (whoever is actually out there reading...lol ) But I have to wait for morning so that I can use the wonderful daylight to snap the. so for now I am off to bed at an early 2:25 am...lol.

Stamping on Candles...Who Knew?

Well I seen the tutorial over at SCS a million years ago I have been dying to try it and I even ran out and bought the candles right away. So over a month later here is my first try!! I Used the Haunting Halloween Set from Stampin' Up! The second picture is the larger candle's other side. I can't believe how easy it is. I was a little nervous at first not knowing how it was going to turn out, but alas I have to make like a million more because it is SO cool!! Also pictured is a Christmas one. If you would like to try this out here is the great tutorial on Splitcoast Stampers website. STAMPING ON CANDLES This one is made using the SU Set Season of Joy Available now in the Holiday Mini Catalogue . I used an In Color, Purely Pomegranite, and Handsome Hunter.

New Stamps!!! Woo Hoo!!!

WOOHOO New stamps all around!!
Ok so no pictures today, also no cars today. Last night we ran into a huge, HUGE, problem between my Mother in la and my eldest daughter. Let's just say I dont think I have to worry about them coming to my house for Christmas...lol. Ayways the only good part about yesterday was this....My Stampin'Up! order came 4 days early!!!! So I ordered a few things (yeah who am I kidding...lol) I have seen so many stunning cards done with the set Bronc Buster and decided enough is enough... I HAVE to have that set. After all I do live in cowpoke Alberta. Next I ordered the Stem sayings (really? who could live with out this set?) Also order Loads of Love. I had orginally opted out f getting it with my started kit and decided now that I do need it. Yes I said NEED and I meant it. ) let's see what else......OH NO!!! I forget, now I have to check. Ok it was also Baroque Motifs (love this set...so many things you could do with it) Last but not least (for sets anyway) I got the hostess set Oh, so lovely. very cool. I also order some ink refills and the Groovy Guava ink, refill & paper. LA LA LA LA so happy.

So this morning was kinda crummy due to leftover sadness from my 3 year old being sad with gramma. Then I checked my mail and had a delivery notice from Canada Post saying I had a ackage to pick up and had to pay $8.00 in duty (darn Customs) So I meandered my way to the local Post Office and sure enough it was my very first order from Papertrey Ink. Well the wait was 3 weeks (becaue I am Canada probably) BUT WORTH IT!!! I haven't even stamped with them yet and I already know that the quality and design is far superior to most others on the market. I think Papertrey Ink and I should get to know each other better....he he he. My Husband may beg to differ though. So anyway, I purchased the set Butterfly Kisses & also Holiday Treats....SPECTACULAR!!!

Then about a week ago I went back and ordered more. The designs are awesome, the storage idea is awsome (for those who dont know you transfer them on to the insides of a clear cd case, label the edge of cd case with a provided sticker and store neatly and organized at ther same time) There are lots of really great ideas in their gallery so have a peek. ast but not least, the creator, Nichole Heady has a fantastic Blog called Capture The Moment. so Be sure to check it out, check out her site Papertrey Ink, and buy some stamps you will not be disappointed! You will want to tear them open and brush off that list of "things you HAVE to do" and get scrappin'.

So to Nichole and the Team at Papertrey Ink, Keep up the great work & designs!!! I cant wait to see the next reveals (which is a monthly thing on the 15th ofthe month where they reveal brand new sets) Im sure I shall be back by sunday or so (maybe sooner) with some cards to show you. Big weekend this week, clearng up issues with my MIL, A family Gathering tonight to help my mom get through this evening (her would be 34th wedding Anniversary) but now Dad is gone. So it should be hectic...and then I have to start getting ready for my trip on the 2nd to Hamilton, Ontario...Can't wait!! and I MUST bring some stuff with me I can NOT go without!!G'day allJewels

Ok One More...Clear of Course!!

So I could not resist!! It is, after all, an obsession. I am completely in love with the transparent cards. I took the picture of this one up against a wall in my basement (yeah I know sponged walls......ick!!!) Anywho, I really think it helps draw out the fact that it is clear. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!!What's the deal?? I cut my transparency in half (4.25 x 5.5) used my bone folder to crisp the fold. Then I used, yes again, the Timber Brown Stazon to wheel the watercolor vine roller up the right hand side. I set those aside to dry and grab my whisper white paper and cut it to 2 x 3.75. Then I cut the pattern paper from the brocade DSP and cut to 2.5 x 4.25. I stamped the image onto whisper white and sponged Mellow Moss ink around edge and lightly over entire image. Then comes the funny part (at least for me it was funny) Here I have all this scrappin' Stuff in my room and .... WHAT?!?! NO MARKERS....lol darn kids. I have not got around to investing in decent markers so I whipped out McKayla's washable Crayolas and used the raspberry color (which closely matches this years In Color, Purely Pomegranite) I used it to dot over the berries on the twigs. Then I wrapped the ribbon around and knotted it.Next I attached te paper pieces to the front, inside & back of transprency. I punched the scalloped circle from the pattern paper. (great way to use up some scraps) cut a 1 3/8 circle from Choc. Chip c/s then stamped the sentiment and cut using the smll oval punch. Also there is a hapy holidays stamped in Purely Pom. on the inside. Both sentiments are from the set: Punch Pals.So thats it!! I think next time I will shorten my card descrips and simply list all supllies at the botom....might be easier for me since I still have to look at my keys to type and a little more pleasing on your eyeballs!! lol
