Parent Helper....

Shortly after my oldest Daughter started Kindergarten, my friend Sarah (her Daughter is in the same class) and I attended the Parent Council Meeting. The kindergarten teacher had a list of things she needed volunteers for including someone to provide thank you cards for the places that the students would attend for field trips. Well Color me happy!!! Gee I think I will snap that job up. Sometime this week the kids are going to the local gymnastics club and so I was asked to provide the first card. I was at a bit of a loss for a gymnastic themed card so I went with a generic one instead.

I finally used my thickers!!! I have had these ones for more then a month and never even opened the package....Hello! LOVE THEM!!! I am also really glad to have seen the use of the upside down photo to show the dimension. It Rocks! Thanks Char!
So a little machine stitching, dimensional stickers, thickers and some great designer paper from Stampin' Up! (last years prints line) and the matching inside, I think this card came together nicely!

There is still a BIG open Blog candy HERE go enter it!

It's My Blog-iversary!!!

So received a comment on my last post from Teena in Toronto wishing me a happy blogiversary. I did not even realize it! HA! Thanks Teena for reminding me! I will be back later this evening (I hope) with some blog candy to celebrate my first Blogiversary.
I have a quick & small wedding to go to this afternoon. My sister in law phoned me on Thursday (2 days ago) and said she was getting married this afternoon. Wow! Short notice. So much so, that my husband (its his sister) cant even be there because he has to work and had no notice to book it off. Yikes!
Anyway Check back later tonight folks, you will be glad you did.!!

Fall Themed Gift Idea (October GSS entry)

Just a warning: This is gonna be a long one...LOL so :)
My friend Tanis is getting married in less then two weeks and we (Sarah & I) had the honor of throwing her bridal shower on Sunday. It was a great party! We made spinach dip, pumpkin fluff dip, fruit trays, meat cheese & crackers, little cream cheese on crackers with salsa & cheddar, caramel chocolate cheesecake and best of all apple cranberry cider made from scratch (yeah Sarah rocked that one). We played some great games and laughed way to much! Anyway, I needed a gift and started off making her 25 thank you cards and decided to go with some home made packaging as well all to match the wedding invitations I made for her as seen in THIS post. (mostly because I forgot to pick something up) :)

I started with a box from the Dollar Giant (a whole dollar per box). This is the lid. I basically left it alone because the thickness of paper would not have allowed me to cover both the box and lid, Lucky for me the cranberry color on the top goes along with her color theme. I tried out Lauren's Scallop Blossom idea and completely LOVE it! The sentiment in the middle is from the Favor it Weddings set (PTI).

Here is the lined box. I used Vintage Cream Card stock and covered the box first (to make sure it was actually going to work) Once that was done, I stamped the gerb from Floral Frenzy around the outside in alternating colors. I would have used the PTI colors but I had to do the colors to match what I used on her invitations. Anyway, I then wrapped some divine Dark Chocolate Satin Ribbon around the box and made the inside inserts to match.

Next I was in Michael's and had found by accident these cute little metal leaf shaped candle plates and HAD to get them (given the whole fall theme). I used the Tutorial on SCS to stamp on the candles and it turned out great. At the last minute I decided to add their names and date of wedding to the center candle. She liked these so much that they are going on the head table for the wedding. Yeah!

A little close up view for you! I have to say...MAN those PTI Simple Alphabet stamps are so teeny tiny but come in so handy for things like this!!!

...Finally, this is what I did to wrap the candles. See that fabulous ORANGE ribbon.....do you see it CHAR? Yes it is THAT ribbon. the one you love so much from Michael's and i have to agree it IS really nice, even if it is orange!

Well Thanks for reading along with me for so long, but I at least hope you enjoyed reading or viewing. I will be submitting this to the October GSS at Papertery Ink since it has been a while since I did anything for those special folks!!

Loonie Stampers Challenge #7 & Introductions

It is that time again when all us crazy stampers get together (via the Internet of course) and lay down a challenge and see what we can do. This week along with Char, Regan and Dee, I am so HAPPY TO ANNOUNCE the addition of 2 members of the Loonie Stampers Challenge. I introduce to you Maria & Wendy!! Please go and check them out and give them a nice warm welcome!!!
Another announcement before I get to my card, we have decided as a group to start doing our challenges weekly, so you can now "tune in" every Friday for a challenge card starting October 3rd!!
So this weeks challenge was put forth by Deanna. She picked Black, Plum Pudding and Summer Sunrise along with a Halloween theme. HOW FUN IS THAT??? Now I did not have any PTI Halloween Stamp sets so I chose to use my new Making Memories set that I picked up while visiting Char last Month. It is so Adorable and I am so glad I bought it.

I started my card on a plum pudding base and layered it with summer sunrise and black. For the black layer I embossed it with my new Cuttlebug spiderweb embossing folder. After I embossed it, I rubbed it with Vanilla craft ink and used stardust embossing powder to get a shimmering web. Then I used my Spellbinders nesties to cut all the circle layers. On the orange layer I sponged some black around it before I removed the die from the paper. Then I embossed it and out the ribbon through it. I also stamped the sentiment and embossed it black and raised it up with dimensional stickers.

I liked the way Char took an angle picture the other day so I decided to try it here to show you how I layers all the scalloped circle. I love dimension!!! I also stamped "boo" with my simple alphabet and cut them out and placed them on, ransom note style!

And I would never leave you without a glimpse of the inside...or would I? OK I would but not today. So I hope you enjoyed my first spooky paper treat of the season, now GO! Go check out the other partners in crime!!!!

* Char * Regs * Deanna * Maria * Wendy *

As always we would LOVE for ALL of you to play along and leave us a URL in the comments section!! Have a GREAT weekend everyone! (we are suppose to have nice warn 20 something weather all weekend and that is 70 something for my American friends)

Rockin' The Studio

I FINALLY have things back in order! I am slowly but surely getting used to the whole "getting up early" thing...lol. My Daughter is completely LOVIN' Kindergarten and I received a new desk which, as any stamper knows, meant I HAD to reorganize my entire room. :) OK so on to the Rockin'.
My BFF's Husband did the photos for my friends wedding (as seen in this post) and I wanted to let him know how much it was appreciated. She was not even going to have pictures done because it was too expensive and he did a FANTASTIC job!

When I seen the Rock Star set being released from Little Paper Shop I knew it was a MUST have particularly for this card. Justin is in a rock band (no not the Nintento Wii kind) and so I thought a rockin theme would be good. So after I got a boxed set of engravable shot glasses engraved with his monogram I set out to make the card.

He was very happy with the gift, wrapping paper and the card...even though I have successfully fulfilled my blond moment for this week because I was in a rush to get out the door, almost forgot the card so I quickly grabbed it and stuffed it into an envelope and completely FORGOT TO SIGN IT!!!! What an idiot I am. So we all laughed it off, thank goodness.
So that's it for now, I hope to be back more this week with some great stuff now that I have my room back. THANK YOU AND GOODNIGHT!!!! (said with my best "closing the rock show" voice...haha)

Loonie Stampers Challenge #6

So here I am again with a great group of Ladies totally enveloped in Papertrey Ink. In case you are just joining us. We are 4 Canadian Ladies that make a card challenge every 2 weeks using Papertrey ink stamps, card stock and ink.

This time around our colors were Dark Chocolate, Summer Sunrise & Poppy Red selected by Regan with free reign on whatever stamp set we wanted to use. At first I was like "really those colors, yikes!" But once I pulled them out (mind you I had to substitute poppy red for red riding hood as I didn't have my poppy red yet) I was suddenly cutting and trimming and stamping and viola! I had this card. I LOVE the colors together and now that I have my Poppy Red (Thanks to Char) I bet you will see this color combo again.

Please take a it of time to pop in on the other ladies.

* Char * Regan * Deanna *

Please feel free to use the color map and create along with us, if you do please leave a link in the comments section for all four of us that would be great. I love going to check out all the different combos!!! Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by.

Mi Vida Loca!

My Crazy Life! It has been so hectic and crazy around here lately, more then you can probably even believe. We kinda missed out on our Daughter's 2nd Birthday (more like postponed) My DH is getting ready for a week long fishing trip with his Dad, School is starting up, I have a couple new contracts & Meetings for work, My Mom is in the hospital and I got to buy a headstone for my Father's grave all in less then a week. I am tired, stressed and grumpy! I just wanted to pop in to say I will be back with some posting soon. Especially by Friday for the next Chapter of Loonie Stamper's Challenge, a couple cards I made while visiting with Char and hopefully I get a chance to play with some of the great goodies I bought when she took me shopping. I may even share with you the one good thing from this week....My friends stagette and the ridiculous outfit we made her wear! LOL!
I hope everyone had (or is having) a great long weekend!! See you again soon.
