Oh Buttons!

I have been working really hard to get to bed early these days and so far I am about 60/40. Tonight am on the 40 side since it is 2: 20 when I am writing this...lol. I can't help it to today, I shall place the blame on my LSS.

I went shopping today with my youngest daughter since my oldest was with Gramma and wouldn't you know it I found myself in the Local Scrapbook store. I had been to the other one the day before :) Anyway I found some of the most delicious looking buttons in there. Where have these been hiding all my life, SO CUTE!

These wonderful buttons are from SEI called Chic-a-dee. I also picked up another tube called
"Jolie Chocolat" (which are not listed on the website) MMMMM Sounds yummy. They are all pink and brown (not that I like that color combo)

Anyway, with this card I feel like I stepped outside my box for a few reasons. First off I don't typically use a lot of orange, but when I found this pattern paper (yes I bought MORE) from We R Memory Keepers from the White Out Collection I just pictured the card in my head.

Second reason: I very seldom use a bazillion buttons or even two or three for that matter. In any event, I was rather pleased with how this one turned out.

I also like the way it looks completed on the inside to match. I think I may have to try one with the pink and brown buttons, only I will have to use my Faux Ribbon set to make my own plaid paper to match and then perhaps the Polka Dot Basics set to do the circles. Stay tuned for that one...maybe LOL
That is all for today!

Signed: Impatiently waiting for Papertrey Ink order. I mean seriously, did you SEE the new stuff?? **SIGH**
P.S: Just thought I would mention that this post was actually written months ago but I took it down as I had submitted the card, sadly I have not heard anything about it.

Wedding Invitations

So a while back I mentioned I was working on wedding invitation samples for a friend. After we tweaked a few things here and there, we came to the final product and had a go ahead. So after much printing, cutting, stamping, gluing ...Here they are!

These particular stacks of invitations contain 80 completed invitations, RSVP cards, Reception cards, registry cards (from the store not stamped) and they are all ready to be put together with envelopes. Sarah, Tanis and I sat around for a couple of hours doing that and got it all done.

This is the inside of the invitation. I took this photo awhile ago before we actually printed the test. For privacy purposes I can not show you the actual finished result. But we ended up printed in a cranberry color down the right hand side and had a bit of room left over at the bottom so I carried the leaves across the bottom as well. We had ivory linen envelopes that we order in bulk from a US company. The RSVP card, envelope, and all the little cards fit into the side pocket.

So in the future should I do a style like this again I will be charging $5.00 per completed & assembled set. Love the result and I am sure all her friends and family Will be thrilled to see these in their mailboxes.

May GSS Entries

Here are the cards & projects that entered in the May Guest Star Stamper Contest.

"Dreams Take Flight"
Pond Life Stamp Set
Edited to add: This card received an Honorable Mention on Nichole's Blog. Thanks Nichole, I consider it an honour to make great creations with all your great creations. *big smiles*

This card I loved the fact that it is super easy to mix and match the colors. I inked up the dragonfly with lemon tart and then I rock and rolled it and inked the body in burnt umber and then I stamped it. I thought it worked out pretty well.

To make the rock I used the shell of the turtle image stamped in grey and then I misted the stamp with water and then stamped to create a "washed over rock" type image.

The inside dragonfly was even easier as that image is 2 pieces so that you can stamp the body in a seperate color.

Lastly, I roughed up the edges of my cardstock and then I roughed up the ribbon ends to match.

This project was inspired by Nichole's Wallet for Dad. I thought...well Dad needs a briefcase as well.

This is the front view of the briefcase all folded up with a simple tag that says For You.

I dont have the exact sizes of everything but if you want to know just keave me a comment. :)

Here is the inside. It has pockets on the top lined with the great paper from the Father Knows Best series. I stamped and matted little quotes to tuck into the pockets. See the picture below for more detail.

The Happy Father's Day sentiment is done in the same pop up detail as seen in my last post.

Then pictures of my little cuties laying in the bottom of the breifcase. I add 2 copper brads to the top flap to act as the fasteners. Also I put 2 little strips of velcro on each end for the closure.

And here are the little quoates also matted on the FKB paper. I added the two twill colors from last months release as the pull tabs. Have I mentioned yet how much I love the thin PTI twill? No? Well i do...a LOT!

"The Leaf Card"
I have been doing more pocket cards lately, they are fun. Thi one I used lemon tart and stamped always artichoke leaves on it. Then I lined it with double stitch & twill ribbon. The teill fits perfectly between the stitches.
After that I rip the edge of the lemon and added some artichoke ripped also. Then I glued it down and added the brads.

The inside panel is cut into the shape of a leaf which I did free hand. I then embossed the veins of the leaf with an embossing stylus freehand.
I stamped my tree slightly off the paper and added the sentiments. I ove this one and it is totally true. If my Dad were still he I am sure he would agree...LOL
I did have a few others but I didnt like them as much so I am going to end it here and go make supper.
Have a good day people! Jewels

Green Thumb...Again

I can hardly imagine my stamping life without this set. Green Thumb from Papertrey Ink is one of my most used set hands down. Over and over I find myself reaching for it and everytime I do, I am SO glad I bought it. So, what is your favorite Papertrey Ink Set?
For this card, I started on Stamper's Select (SS) from PTI, then added the pretty in pink prints from SU's current hostess pack. Then I used my Marvy Giga Scalloped Circle and punched SS C/S.
Next I used two of the circles from B&C Circles set (PTI) to create some false matting. After I did that, I stamped the flower pot in Palette's Burnt Umber (note to self: self...buy the whole pad and not just the cube. What a pain in the a** that is...lol) Then I stamped various flowers & leaves in pretty in pink, bluh blossom, regal rose & mellow moss. I then used my craft knife to cut down the sides of the flower pot. I wrapped the ribbon from the back of the card and in each side of the flower pot. Before tieing the bow, I added dimensional stickers and placed the circle where I wanted it. Then I tied the bow and added the sentiment from "Garden of Life" (PTI).
Then I did a circle and some flowers surrounding the Mother's Day sentiment on the inside. Makes for a cute little card for Mommy! Thanks for stoping by and I will see you again tomorrow! ~Jewels

So, This is what I was doing!

I have been busy, busy, busy! I have a wedding invitation order, had some website sales including one of 44 cards, then I had to check in with the local flower shop on Saturday and...."We would like 50 Mother's Day cards...can you get them here by Monday?" Um..ok! I also had a few other little sales here and there......So I stamped ALL weekend, and I loved it.
This is one of the cards I made this evening. I am completely in love with the fact that I can now make bigger cards since I found a supplier for bigger sized card wrappers & envelopes. This card is a 6x6, complete with a ivory linen envelope and wrapper. I used a Stampin up kit for this one. I have had it sitting around forever so I am finally getting some use of it (while also learning to use up stuff I have...Man it's good to actually get rid of some of it and in a super pretty way)
I cut the Soft Sky textured cardstock 6x12 and scored it down the center. Then I used a peice of the river rock texture c/s and fixed it to the left hand side. Next I cut a peice of the pink DSP from the kit and used the spiral punch up the side.

After that, I used some of the c/s sticker borders to add some fun color and pattern. Then I used a reverse peice from the pink, which is the brown, river rock & soft sky pattern, and placed it accross the top after I tied some spring moss & aqua mist twill from Papertrey Ink.
Next, I layered the prima paper flowers and added a button from Basic Grey.
Then I finished off the card with the squares layered with another strip of c/s sticker and stamped the sentiment from "Pond Life" & the thing-a-ma-jig (yeah, I don't know what it is...lol) from the B&C Circles set, Both from Papertrey Ink. Last, but not least, I added a pearl between the "thing-ama-jigs" and also three along the top corner of the card.
With all the stamping have been doing I should have a few posts for the next little while. Although I am not caught up yet with my orders, I will try and have a bunch of new things to show you leading up to the May Papertrey Ink Release, so check back often. Hope everyone had a fantastic week-end.

I have been sewing!

I finally got out my sewing machine again. Ever since I moved my studio upstairs and put both the girls downstairs, I have left a table full of things downstairs. Somewhere under the pile, was my sewing machine.

I made a few cards for the partner site that I belong to. Coming up to Mother's Day and we had almost no Cards for mom to sell. Now we have a few more. Check it out! i Make Art Cards! Anyway, I am not going to go into great detail but I do want to point out one or two things. I picked up some envelopes from a drug store (a friend told me they sell leftover envelopes for dirt cheap, so I grabbed some up) I love it because they sometimes have unique sizes and it makes for some great variety in cards. I made a matching flap on this envelope to cover up an existing pattern and company brand. One neat thing about this card is I applied a rub-on directly to my PTI Saddle Stitch Ribbon...LOVE IT!!!

The one thing I like about this card is the way the ribbon is weaved through. I first used the slot punch and then used the small hole on my cropadile and put in an eyelet. Then I weaved my ribbon through both sides, secured it and stamped on the ribbon. Still need to pick up some stiffy and try it out. I was lucky enough for no bleeding on this card.

The little flowers on this cards I found at Michael's in the bridal section. They are Bridal confetti but you get a cute little pail with TONS of these flowers in it. Did you know that you can also color these flowers? I have not tried it but you can see it on THIS card. Isn't that fabulous? Lauren's cards never fail to blow my mind. So creative.

I have been slacking a little because I am working now, making cards for craft fairs & stores, helping a friend plan her wedding, doing her 100 invitations, table tents, favor tags, and center peices, dealing with my MIL's recent major health issues and working on a VERY SPECIAL POST coming soon for the Papertrey Ink Blog Hop. Be sure to tune in to see my special Tribute to my Dad! So yeah, I have a few things on my plate.

I have three more days of posts ready to go and scheduled in blogger, so come back and visit and don't forget I do have feedburner if you prefer to get them right in your inbox. See you all soon!

Scalloped Flowers

This card has many things I love. Pretty Pink Pattern Papers from Papertrey Ink, ruffled ribbon made from saddle stitch ribbon (PTI), and stamp sets that match perfectly. I entered this for the PTI GSS, wish me luck!!

I started this card with the standard size Stamper's Select Cardstock from PTI and added the 3 x 4 piece of floral pattern paper, which I inked around the edges with Spring Moss Exclusive Palette ink.

Then I cut a piece of c/s 4 x 2.25 and inked the entire thing with the moss ink, my solution for not having bought the spring moss paper. I will be fixing that with my April order.

Next I took my medium solid dot stamp from Polka Dot Basics and added spring moss to the centers of the circles on the pattern paper and adhered it to my card. After that I added a 1 inch strip of the dot paper.

Then I grabbed a 12 inch strip of the spring moss saddle stitch ribbon and pulled the white stitching to give my ribbon the ruffle. I fell in LOVE this look when I saw THIS card at the PTI Blog Hop. To stop it from straightening out I tied to 2 strands of white together and finishing arranging the ruffles. Then I attached it over the strip with tape runner.

For the "Scalloped Flower" I punched a Marvy Giga scalloped circle and a scalloped circle using my SU pinch. On the large scallop, I stamped the 2 different circle patterns from the Borders & Corners Circle set. I also stamped the "thinking of you" circle from that set in the spring moss and punched it out with the 1 1/4 punch. Then I layered the three pieces on the card. (after cutting off the bottom 3/4 inch of the large scallop) I used glue at the bottom of the scallops and then for some depth I added a dimensional to the tops and lightly bent in the scallops!

Playing with Spring Moss

I hesitated at first to order the spring moss colors from Papertrey Ink....but I have no idea why, it's wonderful. I ordered the ink and the Saddle Stitch ribbon. Now I have to order the paper, and the other 4 ribbon styles...LOL.

I took a tangerine colored paper (from a Costco pack) and cut it at the borderde with my Martha Stewart border punch. then I wrapped the Spring Moss ribbon around in a simple knot. The I used the negative effect embossing with the Cuttlebug.

After I attached the embossed peices I made the little tag at the bottom. I used the Papertrey Ink Borders & Corners Circles & the text from Mixed Messages.

All in all, I think this is a style of card I may need to try again in different layouts and colors.

Have a Great Day!!

Cupcake Challenge #9

I absolutely LOVED Taylor's Cupcake Challenge #9 from last week and now that my slump of card making is through I wanted to whip out my "Hey There Cupcake" set from Stampendous.

I also just recieved a new order from Stampin up (can you believe it had been more then a month since I ordered last?!?) Anyway, I ordered some Taken with Teal & more Chocolate Chip. So this is what I did with it. The ink colors are Burnt Umber & Aqua Mist (which I also recieved the other day) and I LOVE the Palette Inks! If you have not tried them out yet, I am telling you go now to PTI and toss them in your cart. (not that I am enabling you in anyway...NOW GO!!!) haha. The ribbon is the PTI Aqua Mist Wide Grosgrain....Love it!

Ok well That is all I am sharing for now but I will have another card coming up....all I have to say is Taken with Teal, Green Thumb & SU's Stylized Silver Hodge Podge!!

Have a Great Day!!!

Overcoming the Green

Ha! Ok so as mentioned in my previous post I am not so "inspired" by green, however, my sister in law keeps coming at me with special requests. This time it was a request for a gift tin in bright/lime green to use for mints on her co-workers desk and of course a card to match. So without further delay, this is what I did.....I have overcome...lol

Not Really going to go into detail today as it is 3:30 am in my world (if you are curious about anything, just leave me a comment and I will get back to you. I read ALL my comments) and I am "supposed" to be training myself to be in bed early so that I can get up earlier...you know kindergarten is coming in September and the Girls and I are, well, lazy. We sleep in every morning. So, so far no such luck in the training for me...HAHAHA...Have a great Day!!

Overflowing with Papertrey Ink

Can you really ever have to much of that company? I love them! As I awaited my February order to come, I was plotting what I wanted to do with it. My plan was to finally use some of the Maya Road Coffee Break Tins that I found at an "almost wholesale" price because they have just been sitting here collecting dust for almost 2 months. Well I kind of went a teeny tiny bit overboard. Over 16 sheets of 6 x 6 everyday blessings design paper later.....

After the fact I did change a few of the cards. I had made 2 small ones that said thinking of you which did NOT fit the rest of the set so i made more that said Thank you. So now they all say that. Also in this set is the Coffee Break Album for recording the New things and pictures for Baby's first 12 months. The accordian style origami book perfect for the pourse or great as a gift for Gramma. Then I made a little matchbook style post it not & pen. You never know as a busy mom when you may need to jot down some notes! Well i am "itchin" to do some stamping after having been at the Papertrey Ink Release Party s I need to go stampin'. If you have any questions leave a comment and I will answer it asap! Have a great week end!!

Grrrr Baby!!!

LOL, Sorry I couldn't resist!! Are these adorable or what? I have been planning a jungle baby shower and this is going to be one of the game prizes. Now let's just hope none of the attendees are peeking in here. Anyway, I was strugling to do something "jungle theme" as we have decided that all the gifts had to be themed. So, I had seen a tutorial on a blog somewhere (sorry can't remember where...if you are reading this and it was yours email me and I will correct it. I swear I have the memory of a goldfish!!!) and in the tutorial they had taped off the paper and used ink to make the stripe pattern.

I did all the black stripes onto the white PTI Cardstock first (love that cardstock) and once I was done that I used my aqua-writer to colors in the orange for the tiger cards very carefully.

Then using Papertrey Ink stamps (B&C Mono. Ed. & Faux Ribbon?) I stamped them onto white, punched them out and added them to layers of more punches (all punches from SU) Then I added the scalloped ribbon and attached the sentiments.

These cards are all 3x5 with envelopes sized a tiny bit larger and fit perfectly nto some clear card boxes I found semi-wholesale online. Great prices on satin finish envelopes of all sizes and card boxes too.... Yahoo! Well I have another post I want to write so stay tuned. I also think in a few days I might show you all the step by step photos that I took while making these cards!
