Loonie Stamper's Challenge #2

So a few things first, we now have a logo! It contains all four members names, the Maple leaf that represents Canada, cleverly done in the most gorgeous Papertrey Ink Perfect Match Colors! Do you Like?

Onto the Challenge at hand. This week was Regan's pick and she even provided us with a picture of inspiration. It was inspired by a dress she bought for Lola and happened to contain a bunch of PTI colors.




This is the color map for the challenge as well as a snippet of the dress. Berry Sorbet, Aqua Mist, Chocolate Chip, White, Spring Moss & Sweet Blush.

She also issued, in the challenge, that we may use any sentiments from any sets we choose. Here is the catch...No images.

This card is a 5x5 for something a bit different! I chose to work with my Chocolate chip as a base, focal point matte and also in the ribbon & ink.

The focal point was done from a GREAT video tutorial which you can see here on Julie's Blog. After I was done the rose and attached it I added the distressed strips of perfect match card stock to the side of the card.

The eyelets I added as a last minute thought, however if I were to do it over I would put half back pearls there instead.

Inspired By a Website

This card has it all my friends! Stitching, heat embossing, shimmery paper, flat back pearls, painted flowers. I practically had a vision for this card. I recently started a contract with my web designer to do some work for her and her customer. I was over at her house for a meeting with a client and before the client arrived she was showing me some more templates she has been working on that were almost ready for publishing. As soon as she showed me THIS one, that is when the vision hit!


I had picked up a "Luxury" DCWV Paper pack last month and hardly used any yet. Also, I recently picked up a package of the brushed gold card stock from Stampin' Up! So pulling these papers together was the easy part, I still had to come up with something stunning, exciting and entirely spectacular, like the website!

After getting out my sewing machine I took the striped piece and laid it over the brushed gold and did a short zigzag down both sides. Then I put it onto the second pattern. At that point I decided it needed more stitching so I quickly added what I had to some vanilla (which will soon be replaced with Papertrey Ink's Vintage Cream 110 lb Card stock to be released June 15th) I then stitched down the sides of the gold and around the whole piece.

Next I stamped the word "Eternity" from the Wedding Day set in versamark and embossed it gold. I then added the circle, also from Wedding Day, in Mellow Moss ink and trimmed it out.

Next I cut another circle of mellow moss card stock just a tiny bit larger then the stamped circle. That was not big enough for the card so I cut out a vanilla scalloped circle with my Marvy Giga Punch and a Mega Circle of brushed gold. It needed to the stitching as well to carry a theme through the card. I added the circle on top of the ribbon and felt it still needed a bit more pizazz...Bridal Confetti enter stage left. I colored 2 of the flowers and left the last one ivory. Before attaching them I used my fingernail on the underside of the petals to give then a bit of a natural curl. Last I added a tiny pearl from Hero Arts to the flower centers.


Normally I do not add quite so much to the insides of my cards, but I think this looks so perfectly finished and would help my customers in a big way. It takes a lot of the thinking out for those who maybe don't want to write in their own message.

So I took some left over pieces from the front trimmings and made a stripe down the side and added the sewing around the edges again. Then I stamped the sentiments from the Everyday Blessings set in versamark and embossed it gold. I stitched around the edge, mounted it with dimensionals and applied another colored flower as the final touch!

The great thing about this card (in terms of adding it to my store) is that I can make this in a few colors because the stack has 6 different colors (I think) I can not wait to make more of these beauties!! Thanks Marlyn for the excellent inspiration from your website!

This is a super fancy card that I made for My Sister in Law to give to her Mother. I thought I would share it with you today as I wish all the Mommies out there a Happy Mother's Day!
