Inspired By Charlene

So as I was blog surfing, I decided to check in on my friend Charlene. We met through our "win" for the January Guest Star Stamper at Papertrey Ink. Turns out we live within 2.5 hours from each other. Cool! So she posted a beautiful card using a crocheted flower and I suddenly found myself REALLY wanting some crocheted flowers. I had previously asked my Mom to make some for me, however she has been so busy now that she is back to work and also vacationing in Hawaii. Then it occured to me that years ago she taught ME to crochet. I went into my hope chest that my Dad made for me and retrieved some crochet cotton and a hook and got started so this is the end result. Thanks so much Charlene, for the inspiration to make this flower!! BTW, you can check out Charlene's Blog >>Here<< I actually ended up making 3 different sizes. The first picture is the smallest with 5 petals on each layer. That flower is most like the one Char used. Then I also made a 6 petal flower and a 7 petal flower. The card on the left is what I made after I made the flower.

I started by cutting the DSP (afternoon tea from SU) 5.25 x 4 and applied the brown floral vine rub on from Stampin' Up!'s Sale-a-bration catalog. Then I filled the center of my crocheted flower with one of the small stickers from SU's Simply Scrappin' Rose Cottage and then a pewter MM large brad. then I used another larger flower from the same kit as the back part of the flower.

Then I couldn't decided what kind of card to make it so I broke out the 'ol Sincere Salutations and picked the get well soon stamp. Stamped with close to cocoa on kraft and backed it on rose red and attached with dimensionals. Lastly, I used my cropadile to put on some jumbo eyelets from MM and tied simple pink grosgrain ribbon. On a white card base, I think this card really turned out beautifully, it is almost a shame someone has to be sick to receive this card.

I think that is all for right now because I have to get to bed, but check back really soon as my next posts will be very intriguing. I am preparing a post on my special find from Michael's and also another special request card. My sister in law keeps me thinking...she said birthday, purple, frogs. At first I was at a loss for what to do, but it turned out beautifully so be sure to stay tuned for that.
