Have a "Cheer"ful Day!

I know, it's the lamest line yet, but it works. So the gals (and Rick) over at Papertrey Ink are now holding a monthly Blog Hop, designed to get al our creative mojo's working overtime. Anyone signed up through the forum can also sign up for the blog hop. Each month we will be given a challenge and then on the 25th of every month we will all meet in the forum, check out each other's blogs and share our thoughts about them. FUN!

If you Like my Project for this months Blog Hop Please feel free to visit the forum thread for vote and place you vote for me!! VOTE HERE
The very first ever Blog Hop is using ribbon as a focal point of our projects. Inspired by my friend Charlene's EXCELLENT entry for the GSS last month, which can be seen here. How does one come up with something like that? Pure brilliance Charlene, Way to go!!
I was sitting here only 3 hours ago with still only the idea of what I was going to do and yet to actually do it, yeah I procrastinate ALL THE TIME! Ooops. SO I started out with the new technique I learned of The Negative Effect using the Cuttlebug Embossing Folders (LOVE this technique) I used regal rose ink on regal rose cardstock. Embossed it and then mounted it on some green Bazzill. (I put off ordering the PTI cardstock and inks and of course I am kicking myself now, but it is on its way ***SMILES***)

Next I added some ribbons to the left hand side of the card. The Aqua Mist PTI grosgrain ribbon topped with some polka dot American Crafts ribbon. Believe me I think the PTI Sweet Blush would have been SO much nicer, I can't wait to get it. Then I had to create my Cheerleader pom poms. That was fun<<< not a bit of sarcasm at all...LOL

Anyway, once I figured out that this was going to work, I made another one and attached them to my card with tape runner. That stuff is so good and I know that the ribbons are clinging on there for good. To Finish off the card, bringing the whole theme together perfectly I stamped the "RAH RAH" using SU's Soft Sky & Regal Rose (which again would have been lovely in the aqua mist and Sorbet) this create sort of a shadow effect. I then matted them and attached to the card. The inside of the card is complete with a computer printed sentiment that says "Have a "Cheer"ful Day"
I hope you have all enjoyed my first edition of PTI's Bloghop. I want to give a little shout out before I go to Nichole, Julie, Jane & Rick (The Papertrey Gang) Thanks so much for such a fun activity for all us true addicts to get our minds going beyond the usual of our own creations. Also a BIG Shout out the Charlene for being the inspiration to Nichole for the first event!!!

Cuttlebug Negative Embossing

So I was poking around SCS yesterday and found the coolest technique to try. It is called Cuttlebug: The Negative Effect which can be found HERE. So the first picture is all the different colors and patterns I have tried so far. The Blue, of course, is my favorite. I did however decided to play around with one additinal one I did that is not in the picture. By combining a new technique and a color challenge from Kristina Werner's site (HERE) using the colors, Groovy Guava, So Saffron, Blush Blossom & Wild Wasabi. I did have to sub the wild wasabi for mellow moss because I don't have any WW. I still think it turned out ok.

I started on a Mellow Moss base followed with a textured Blush Blossom. Then I used textured So Saffron and the ink along with my CB folder following the instrucions from SCS. SO COOL!! Next I wrapped some double stitched guava ribbon around the saffron and applied the butterfly matte. Then I tied the little bow and applied it using glue dot mini's. Then using the Borders & Corners Mini, Out on a Limb & Mixed Messages from Papertrey Ink I made the little tag.

On the inside of the card I stamped "Birthday hugs & wishes" from Stampin' Up! and also stamped a half circle and the flowers on the tag, in the bottom right hand corner. Pictured on the right.

So I highly recommend checking out the Cuttlebug Technique, it is so awesome. Feel free to leave a comment here if you tried it with a link to your blog, I would LOVE to see what you create!! Have a SUPER weekend ad check back again tomorrow I will be updating with another new FAB card!!

Overcoming the Green

Ha! Ok so as mentioned in my previous post I am not so "inspired" by green, however, my sister in law keeps coming at me with special requests. This time it was a request for a gift tin in bright/lime green to use for mints on her co-workers desk and of course a card to match. So without further delay, this is what I did.....I have overcome...lol

Not Really going to go into detail today as it is 3:30 am in my world (if you are curious about anything, just leave me a comment and I will get back to you. I read ALL my comments) and I am "supposed" to be training myself to be in bed early so that I can get up earlier...you know kindergarten is coming in September and the Girls and I are, well, lazy. We sleep in every morning. So, so far no such luck in the training for me...HAHAHA...Have a great Day!!

My First RAK!

Today I had a lovely card mailed to me from a fellow Canadian member of the PTI-RAK Group. It was such a delight to have something in the mailbox other then bills...lol. Today is kind of gloomy and dull so it was extra nice to see the stamps on the paper using the spiral bouquet to remind us that spring really is just around the corner, THANK GOD!

SO here is a picture of her beautiful card. Thanks so much Deanna!! Did you know I am orginally from Ontario also? Born in wonderful (teeny, tiny) Pembroke, while my parents were stationed in Petewawa! Yipee! Anyway, Thanks again Deanna I really enjoyed your card and Nichole and the team will reap some benefits as I now need, yes need to buy that stamp set when it is back in stock!

Now I am off to complete 2 orders, one of which includes something very lime green and flowery....Just fr the record, I HATE lime green so this can be a challenge...LOL. I may have to make some more RAK's to get the green out of my eyes. Have a great day.

Overflowing with Papertrey Ink

Can you really ever have to much of that company? I love them! As I awaited my February order to come, I was plotting what I wanted to do with it. My plan was to finally use some of the Maya Road Coffee Break Tins that I found at an "almost wholesale" price because they have just been sitting here collecting dust for almost 2 months. Well I kind of went a teeny tiny bit overboard. Over 16 sheets of 6 x 6 everyday blessings design paper later.....

After the fact I did change a few of the cards. I had made 2 small ones that said thinking of you which did NOT fit the rest of the set so i made more that said Thank you. So now they all say that. Also in this set is the Coffee Break Album for recording the New things and pictures for Baby's first 12 months. The accordian style origami book perfect for the pourse or great as a gift for Gramma. Then I made a little matchbook style post it not & pen. You never know as a busy mom when you may need to jot down some notes! Well i am "itchin" to do some stamping after having been at the Papertrey Ink Release Party s I need to go stampin'. If you have any questions leave a comment and I will answer it asap! Have a great week end!!

Baby Zan Update...

Over Night Baby Xanen has developed an infection and quite possibly pneumonia. Then Baby Zan's Mom & Dad have to drive up there. I so wish I could go with them for Support! Anyways. I am saving all my thoughts and prayers for Baby Zan today and everyday until he is in safer territory!

Edited to Add: Baby Zan is doing great now. No infections or what not. He is breathing great on his own and was allowed to return to Medicine Hat Last night. Mommy & Daddy followed behind Ambulance and they are all getting settle in the Hospital here again. Xanen now has a check list of things to accomplish and at that point will be allowed home!!! Update on Baby

So...I would like to officially welcome the KING of the JUNGLE. Remember the jungle theme baby shower? Well here he is. We already know that he is impatient, having arrived 6 weeks and 2 days early......When you see the X, think Z *wink*

It was truly a wonderful experience to be present when this little fellow, who I now call Baby Zan, into this world. Although he did have some struggles at first, having to be intabated (sp) but he didnt care for that so they took that out and just helped him out a bit. Later in the evening he was able to fully breath on his own and is getting stronger everyday. He does have a little bit of Jaundice so he has started his tanniong bed days much earlier then most...check out this super funny picture...

Well folks, that is all and say this...if you ever have the chance to help a friend and witness a really, truly and completely AMAZING experience..do it. I feel absolutely honoured to have been there. It is so different watching and helping and not actually being the one to give birth.
Have a great day....oh and if you have not gone over to Nichole Heady's blog (Papertrey Ink) to checkout the countdown to a new release on March 15, 2008...WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU??? GET OVER THERE!!!! LOL Just buggig ya, but seriously...go now, its not like you have to literally RUN...:)

Baby came 6 weeks early!!

Last night (Saturday) I recieved a call on my cell phone from my best friend telling me she had some concerns and went to the hospital to be checked and while doing that her waer broke 6 weeks early. It turns out BOTH her labor coaches she had prearranged were out of town so I quickly rushed the girls over to my moms and was at the hospital 20 minutes later....staying up all night sure is tiring, although she did a LOT of hard work. About 14 hours later (2 hours of pushing, pour girl) they now have a teeny tiny baby boy. They are closely montering baby in the NICU as his little lungs are premature. It is a possibility that he may need to goto Calgary to the Neo Natal Unit for some specialized help. Lots of thoughts and prayersfor the new little guy!!

Cupcake Fun

After a long 6 week wait, my stamp set "Hay There Cupcake" arrived and I mmediately torn it open and made 7 different cards with it. I love this set. Unfortunitely I have been informed that Eclectic Paperie will no longer be shipping internationally at all. I really think this is too sad. They have some GREAT stuff that I would love to purchase. Oh well!

Ok, back to the card. I started this card using the Stamper's Select cardstock from PTI for the card base. Then I created the matte stacks using real red, pretty in pink and the polka dot print in wild wasabi from thre level 1 hostess print pack from Stampin' Up!

Next, I stamped one of the 6 cupcake bottoms in real read and the cupcake top in pretty in pink. There are 6 tops and bottoms that are all mix and matchable. (plus a ton of candles, sentiments and what not) So I matted the cupcake on pretty in pink added the 5/8 grosgrain ribbon in real red and finished off the card by stamping the cupcake on the inside corner aswell. I very seldomly find that I stamp anything on the inside allowing who ever is using the card to gear it towards whatever or whoever they need.

I hope you all have enjoyed my little card for the day, I will be posting another one tomorrow I think. I am off now to do some more work on my website...G'day!

A Great Find!

Monday evening I was not feeling very inspired until I found myself wondering the aisles of Michael's. Since Sarah and I have another baby shower coming up, I was lerking in the baby/wedding section and happened upon one really great find.

These are supposed to be table confetti for weddigs, but as a card maker/scrapbooker my first thought was "who in their right mind would waste these on a table????" LOL so of course this pretty little container of pearl colored paper flowers accompanied me to the check out. I have no idea how many flowers are in here but there is A LOT! Not to mention the cute container that is totally alterable, all for a cheap (Canadian) price of $8.99. They are also on sale this week for 25% off. SO all in all not to bad.

Here is one card I made with them. It is a smaller card, measuring 3.5 x 5 and is just so cute. I am so glad I found a place with new envelope sizes, it really opens the doors of possibilitie. There is nothing owrse then not having a proper fit for your card, IMO.

Supplies: SU kraft, SU Simply Scrappin' Rose Cottage, retired SU ribbon, Stamps from the month of May Hero Arts Clear, basic brown classic ink, and of course my flower find from Michael's.

Have a great Day!!

Birthday, Purple, Frogs

These were the key words in a phone call from my S-I-L, Diana. She has recently been phoning me every time she needs a card. I LOVE special requests, I consider it my challenge for that moment. I was actually struggling with this one a little bit, when all of a sudden it occured to me what I should do.

I am not going to go into a whole lot of detail on this card as it is fairly straight forward, but I think my favorite element of this card is the home meade lily pad. The inside of the card says "Hoppy Birthday", naturally.

Supplies: PTI white cardstock, misc pattern paper, cuttlebug d'vine swirls embossing folder, prima flowers and leaves, stamps, ink and grosgrain ribbon from SU, oval punch and signo pen also from SU. Jeweled brads from Making Memories.

Thanks for having a peek at this one. If you have any questions please leave a comment or just stop in to say hello! Diana, Keep them coming!!

Inspired By Charlene

So as I was blog surfing, I decided to check in on my friend Charlene. We met through our "win" for the January Guest Star Stamper at Papertrey Ink. Turns out we live within 2.5 hours from each other. Cool! So she posted a beautiful card using a crocheted flower and I suddenly found myself REALLY wanting some crocheted flowers. I had previously asked my Mom to make some for me, however she has been so busy now that she is back to work and also vacationing in Hawaii. Then it occured to me that years ago she taught ME to crochet. I went into my hope chest that my Dad made for me and retrieved some crochet cotton and a hook and got started so this is the end result. Thanks so much Charlene, for the inspiration to make this flower!! BTW, you can check out Charlene's Blog >>Here<< I actually ended up making 3 different sizes. The first picture is the smallest with 5 petals on each layer. That flower is most like the one Char used. Then I also made a 6 petal flower and a 7 petal flower. The card on the left is what I made after I made the flower.

I started by cutting the DSP (afternoon tea from SU) 5.25 x 4 and applied the brown floral vine rub on from Stampin' Up!'s Sale-a-bration catalog. Then I filled the center of my crocheted flower with one of the small stickers from SU's Simply Scrappin' Rose Cottage and then a pewter MM large brad. then I used another larger flower from the same kit as the back part of the flower.

Then I couldn't decided what kind of card to make it so I broke out the 'ol Sincere Salutations and picked the get well soon stamp. Stamped with close to cocoa on kraft and backed it on rose red and attached with dimensionals. Lastly, I used my cropadile to put on some jumbo eyelets from MM and tied simple pink grosgrain ribbon. On a white card base, I think this card really turned out beautifully, it is almost a shame someone has to be sick to receive this card.

I think that is all for right now because I have to get to bed, but check back really soon as my next posts will be very intriguing. I am preparing a post on my special find from Michael's and also another special request card. My sister in law keeps me thinking...she said birthday, purple, frogs. At first I was at a loss for what to do, but it turned out beautifully so be sure to stay tuned for that.

The Giggle Game P1

This is a video of my girls. McKayla is the older one and McKenzie is the little one full of laughter. They were playing the pick up game with a face cloth in my scrappin room. The second video is even funnier!
